Active in the community

The Blewett Conservation Society has been advocating on behalf of local community interests since 1981. Previous work of the BCS includes:

  • Lobbying against a proposed dump site
  • Reviewing and commenting on proposed forestry and mining activities
  • Rallying against wood waste burning beside 49 Creek
  • Initiating water testing in Kootenay River at the Taghum Beach Regional Park
  • Rallying to keep farm land within the ALR
  • Annual Garden Tours
  • Protecting turtle habitat at Grohman Narrows
  • Public talk with the BC mining inspector
  • Public talk and discussion with Corky Evans, MLA
  • Public talk and discussion with Jim Gouk, MP
  • Public forum and discussion with the candidates for Director, RDCK Area E
